My initial exposure to turning started about twenty years ago. Although a lot of turning techniques are self-taught, I have also trained under some of the best artists in the business including Beth Ireland and David Elsworth. I belong to the three Woodturning Associations: Woodturners of Maine, Woodturners of Eastern Massachusetts and the National Woodturners Association. I have given a number of demonstrations and have taught basic turning skills.
My work is quite varied; I retain the flexibility to experiment in the many facets of turning. With segmented turning, I have worked with many exotic woods such as Paduk, Pau Amarillo and Purple Heart. I also create natural edge bowels with embedded inlace rock, decorative plates, vases and boxes.
